ABSTRACT

Quaternary ammonium salts (QAS) as the main representatives of cationic surfactants are widely used in different branches of industry. However, they are practically not used in polymer processing, except vulcanization of the rubber [1]. Meanwhile, high surface activity, a variety of structure of hydrophobic radicals and cationic centers make it possible to use QAS for modification of different plastics, especially on the basis of filled polymers. The antimicrobial activity typical of all quaternary salts gives the advantages in developing polymer films for food products.
