ABSTRACT

Moreover, the QoP-ML makes it possible to perform the security economics analysis

called adaptable security in the literature [43, 44].

Here we discuss the syntax and semantics of a new structure for the Quality

of Protection Modeling Language (QoP-ML) needed in the analysis of a reputation

system (reputation module). The first view of this module was presented in [46]. The

essential achievement is introducing the ability of formally specifying the distributed

reputation systems along with other protocols and functions of information security

supporting the reputation systems. Based on the reputation module, it is possible to

analyze the reputation system from the technical and information perspective. To

calculate the reputation values of agents, defined algorithms are applied which are

abstracted from the operating system by means of the host being defined as a part of

the whole IT architecture, which is used for abstraction of distributed communities.

In this infrastructure, defense mechanisms can be modeled and their impact on the

reputation system can be analyzed. The reputation module proposed here is a part

of the Quality of Protection Modeling Language and the first modeling language

enabling abstraction and analysis of the reputation systems as regards the technical

and information security perspective in a formal way.
