ABSTRACT

Nutrient cycles are integral to almost all geographic locations. Nutrient cycles are essential phenomena within each crop field, a farm, a small cropping zone or an entire agroecosystem. Within the context of this book, nutrient cycles in nature, especially those occurring in vast natural vegetation and agroecosystems deserve greater attention. Knowledge about nutrient cycles that occur in different agroecoregions or cropping belt has been accumulated consistently for the past several decades, using wide range of techniques. Yet, there are lacunae. Several aspects of nutrient cycling specific to different regions need attention. Long term effects of priming and altering nutrient cycles, on steady states of soil nutrients and crop productivity need due attention.
