ABSTRACT
In one instance, the decedent was found with duct tape around the head and a bullet hole through the duct tape. The duct tape could not be removed and had to be preserved to retain any possible evidence on the tape itself. The TECT analyst moved the head very slightly to analyze the body for trace, and then the head was held still as the body was placed into the bag to prevent blood from flowing onto the tape, resulting in the loss of evidence on it. Careful handling of the body can be critical in a variety of situations.
