ABSTRACT
Rhamnus purshiana De Candolle (Rhamnaceae) is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to the Pacific Northwest United States and southwestern Canada.[1-4] Rhamnus is the generic name for buckthorn, and the species name, purshiana, was given in honor of the German botanist Friedrich Pursh.[4]
Its primary usage is as a laxative.
