The unit operations are the basic steps for chemical technologies. These entail several unit operations structured in schemas or fl ow-sheets to obtain the desired products.
Separation operations transform a mixture of substances into distinct products. To allow separation, the components should differ in some properties, such as particle size, density, electric charge, solubility, volatility, substrate affi nity, reactivity and so on.
