ABSTRACT

Iron is one of the essential metals required for a variety of molecules to maintain their normal structures and functions and for cells to live, grow, and proliferate. However, maintaining a safe dose level of iron is important for normal functioning of our body because iron overdose often causes toxicity in several organs and iron deciency causes anemia and other diseases (Anderson and Wang 2012). Therefore, abnormal homeostasis of iron is associated with several pathogenic conditions, such as metabolic syndrome (Beutler et al. 2003; Liu et al. 2009).
