ABSTRACT
Liquid lubrication is introduced before solid lubrication, inasmuch as its interpretation is easier, mainly because of the Stribeck curve (Figure 4.1). The curve shows four lubrication regimes:
1. Boundary lubrication, where only a thin layer of lubricant is present, and the load is carried predominantly by asperities.
