ABSTRACT

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an effective fire suppression agent applicable to a wide range of fire hazards. Carbon dioxide works quickly, with no residual cleanup associated with a system discharge, which translates into minimal business interruption. Other benefits of carbon dioxide fire protection system include:

• Fast and effective: within seconds, CO2 penetrates the entire hazard area to smother the combustion

• Electrically nonconductive, for a wide range of applications • Versatile: CO2 is effective on flammable and combustible materials

and approved for class A, B, and C hazards

This book covers the minimum requirements for carbon dioxide systems, with which this chapter is concerned, and which are designed to provide a piped supply of carbon dioxide for the extinction of fire.
