ABSTRACT

Prescription drugs including oral and intravenous medications, as well as inhaled aerosol from pressurized metered dose inhalers (MDI) and dry powder inhalers (DPI) undergo clinical trials in an effort to prove safety and efficacy. This is not the case with the many drugs used for nebulization that are prescribed off-license and bypass regulatory requirement. The specific focus of this chapter, and the general focus of this book, is to address the issues surrounding off-license nebulizer use and provide effective guidance to clinicians.
