ABSTRACT

There are several diversified cases of MH applications in the literature. It has been applied for groundwater application for agriculture in India, one of the largest users of groundwater for agriculture in the world, and groundwater sustains approximately 60% of India’s irrigated area (Scott and Shah 2004, Shah et al. 2000). Even though groundwater resources are related to climate through processes such as precipitation, evapotranspiration, and interaction with surface water (Freeze and Cherry 1979), climate change influence on groundwater is less understood due to the complex nature of the problem. Realizing the value of proper understanding of the climate change effect on groundwater resources, for assessing its availability and sustainable use in countries such as India, Reddy and Ganguli (2012) assessed the risk associated with hydroclimatic variability on groundwater levels in an unconfined aquifer at the Manjara basin in India. Rank correlation analysis is used to identify the association between the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) index, precipitation, and groundwater levels.
