ABSTRACT

Our journey through risk management components in civil infrastructures has showed us one important theme, albeit in an implicit manner: there is a need to interact with different types of stakeholders throughout the risk management process. These stakeholders can be the risk managers themselves, infrastructure owners, public ofcials, insurance companies, funding agencies or groups, and members of the public at large. Without successful interaction, the very objectives of risk management can be at peril. Because of this, we offer two important points:

1. We group all of these interactions as a separate risk management component: risk communication.
