ABSTRACT

Fatty liver disease has been shown to be affected by both hereditary and behavioral factors. Nutritional inuences have been widely studied as contributors to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and ndings of numerous studies indicate that nutritional intake is of major importance in emergence and development of this disorder. In this chapter, we review aspects of nutrition-related induction of fatty liver and discuss the mechanisms involved in their pathogenesis, as studied by relevant animal models and also among patients.
