ABSTRACT

Chapter 8 summarizes the workings and the purpose of earned value and earned value tracking: what it is, what it isn’t, how to fix some of its faults and distortions, and how to use it. If you previously had only a limited sense of the fundamental workings of earned value, Chapter 8 was intended to inform you about the basic techniques. If you feel comfortable with that information, you probably have a better comprehension of earned value, both its appropriate uses and its shortcomings, than most of its practitioners.
