ABSTRACT

The assessment of valvular heart disease is a strength of echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging, because of their ability to assess anatomic and functional detail. 29,70 Imaging with CT is limited secondary to the significant valvular motion during the cardiac cycle. However, advances in scanner technology have improved the assessment of valvular structures, 147,148 and 4-D reconstruction of retrospective gated CT acquisition with fast multi-detector scanners can provide insight into valvular function. 149,150
