ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on volume manipulation so that the user can optimize the image planes for display of the multiplanar and render formats. After the volume is acquired, it is possible to manipulate and navigate through the volume utilizing the most appropriate technique for a complete assessment of the area of interest. Basic Concepts for Volume Manipulation: involves placing the reference dot on the target area within the volume; rotating along the X, Y, and Z axes through the reference dot; and selecting the size and direction from which to view the region of interest. The reference dot can be moved around so that it is set at a particular point of interest within the volume, and it can be seen in all three orthogonal planes simultaneously if the multiplanar mode is selected. Adjusting the size of the region of interest and the direction of viewing enables the external or in-depth study of any volume.
