Mineral metabolism involves a complex interplay of ion and hormonal control by individual organs in support of overall total body homeostasis. e kidney is a vital participant in the maintenance of homeostasis of these essential ions. is chapter presents an overview of regulation of calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus homeostasis in the body and the role played by the kidneys in their regulation. Clinical disorders of the homeostasis aecting these ions and the evaluation and management of these disorders are also discussed.
