Deputy Sheriff Martin Thompson’s Story I was a young cop, looking for my first place to live away from home. A federally sponsored program was announced at roll call offering low-cost housing to any law enforcement officer willing to live in specific low-income, high-crime areas. I immediately took advantage of the offer.
