ABSTRACT

Acne is one of the most common skin-related diseases and approximately 85% of the teenage population suffers from it [1]. Acne lesions appear on those skin regions where the sebaceous follicles occur in large numbers, including the face, chest, and back [2]. The prevalence of acne is 92% for the face, 45% for the chest, and 61% for the back [3]. According to a survey conducted in United States, more than US$100 million is spent on acne treatment and therapy every year [4]. In Malaysia, a single acne patient spends approximately RM250 (US$80) , each year on medication and treatment.
