ABSTRACT
In spite of the title the emphasis in this chapter will be on the location part of the problem as in most situations it is the location parameter which is of interest. If required the scale part can be treated in a similar manner. In [118] the chapter on location is longer by a factor of two than the chapter on scale on the grounds that ‘scale usually occurs as a nuisance parameter in robust location’.
