Accuracy of the Gaussian Approximation for the Eval- uation of Nonlinear Effects

As mentioned in Chapter 1, multicarrier signals are very vulnerable to nonlinear distortion effects. As seen in Chapter 3, when the number of subcarriers is high, multicarrier signals have a Gaussian-like nature, which can be used to characterize a multicarrier signal submitted to a nonlinear device, and this characterization can then be employed for performance evaluation of nonlinearly distorted multicarrier signals.
