ABSTRACT

The gallbladder (GB) is a pyriform sac shaped hollow viscus that helps store the bile produced by the liver. Although gallstones are one of the commonest conditions affecting the GB, numerous other pathologies may involve the GB. Right upper quadrant pain and/or jaundice may be seen in many GB pathologies, but often patients present with nonspecic clinical symptoms and imaging plays a critical role in diagnosis and guiding subsequent management. Ultrasonography (US) is the most common primary imaging modality used in evaluating GB pathology, but computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are being increasingly used for improving diagnostic accuracy.
