ABSTRACT

Most professionals working in the eld of safety know that the job responsibilities and day-to-day activities are enormous and extremely time-consuming. Most safety and loss prevention professionals come to realize that they cannot be “lone rangers” and need the assistance of others on a daily basis. Unlike other functions in most companies, such as accounting and production, safety and loss prevention professionals are often the only individuals responsible for their function, so it is benecial for them to be in contact with others working in the eld and to identify outside resources to assist them with various compliance questions or other issues. Additionally, given the stresses placed upon the safety and loss prevention professional, a network of other professionals with similar responsibilities can also serve as a support group and provide a forum for “bouncing ideas” and venting frustrations.
