ABSTRACT

Then the important concept of rate of change is discussed. Another case study of a computational model is introduced with a simple problem: the free-falling object. An implementation in C is included in order to explain the solution to the problem discussed. The chapter then presents concepts and principles on simulation and simulation models; problem and model decomposition; software tools for implementing (programming), running the model, and the visualization of results. Types of simulation models are briefly explained: continuous, discrete, deterministic, and stochastic models.
