ABSTRACT

Noninvasive tools have become increasingly available for medical assessment of human “internal quality” over the last century, starting with the tool that symbolizes a medical doctor, the stethoscope. Today, a health assessment may involve noninvasive assessment using acoustic (e.g., stethoscope or ultrasound imaging), radiography (x-ray imaging), magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography, etc. In this chapter, we explore the relevance and adoption of such technologies for grading of fruit on quality attributes.
