ABSTRACT
The principle, that flow through the rock mass is driven by a difference in fluid potential (hydraulic head) between two locations, is common to all of these applications and to all fluids (oil, gas, water). The following discussion relates primarily to groundwater but the same principles generally apply to oil and gas reservoirs.
