ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines general aspects for modeling techniques for optical transmission systems using two principal MATLAB® platforms: the Simulink® and m-—les. MATLAB Simulink is based on subsystem modules and the parameters are passed onto the submodulesvia an initiation m-—le, while m-—le platform set ups are based on three layers and graphic units. Generic models are described from the transmitters to receivers and signal processing to evaluate the transmission performances.
