ABSTRACT

Prior to March 2013, the Chinese food safety management system had always been very controversial. is chapter briefly describes the historical changes of the Chinese food safety management system and analyzes the significance of its reform in March 2013, as well as the potential problems it is currently faced with. In view of the fact that the reformed food safety management system continues to emphasize the local management model of “local governments being fully responsible for food safety,” research was carried out on the features of food safety management system reform in Shenzhen to assess whether local management systems were compatible with local reality.
