ABSTRACT

Of the 11 Justices of Appeal in the Court of Appeal, I was fortunate to secure an interview with e Honourable Mr. Justice Michael Lunn. e interview was conducted by telephone call on August 8, 2013. It was a very pleasant, interesting, and educational interview in which Mr. Justice Lunn shared some pearls of wisdom. Mr. Justice Lunn’s background appeals to a global audience because he has lived, studied, and worked in several jurisdictions. Born in Zimbabwe, Mr. Justice Lunn spent his early childhood years there. In 1968, he won a Richardson Foundation Scholarship to Davidson College, United States. e following year, he embarked on a law degree at Queen’s College, Cambridge. He was called to the Bar in 1973 and started his career as a barrister in private practice in 1974. In 1977, he moved to Hong Kong and practiced at the Attorney General’s chambers. In 1982, he was called to the Bar in Hong Kong and began private practice. In 1994, he became a Queen’s Counsel. In 2000, Mr. Justice Lunn became a Recorder of the Court of First Instance of the High Court. ree years later, he progressed to become a judge in the Court of First Instance of the High Court. Association. In 2011, he became Justice of Appeal of the High Court in HKSAR. His areas of expertise are white-collar crime and securities regulation. He was the chairman of the Market Misconduct Tribunal from 2005 to 2012.
