ABSTRACT

Interviews were conducted in English, and because of technicalities involved in some of the issues raised, they were interspersed with the use of sentence completion and/or word association, whereby certain statements were made halfway and the interviewee allowed to respond to and/or complete the sentence (see Otu, 2003). We did this mostly when our respondent appeared not to be clear enough about the issue raised before him. In sum, data were collected systematically but in a way that allowed for exibility on the part of our interviewee such that he was able to address the issues presented to him.
