Guidelines for Managing and Securing Mobile Devices in the Health Organization

The purpose of this chapter is to help organizations centrally manage and secure mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. This chapter, which is aligned with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) guidance, provides recommendations for selecting, implementing, and using centralized management technologies, and it explains the security concerns inherent in mobile device use and provides recommendations for securing mobile devices throughout their life cycle.
