ABSTRACT
The immune system can be mobilized to ght against cancer as well. A recent study on Pleurotus eryngii Quel showed that it can be used to treat various disorders and diseases [7]. The fruiting bodies of P. eryngii were used for immunostimulation, wound healing, lumbago, and cancer [7]. P. eryngii fruiting bodies powder has a potential application as an antitumor agent with immunomodulatory activity through the inhibition of the lysosomal activity of cancerous cells. It can stimulate macrophagemediated immune responses. There are not many herbal phytochemicals that can work as immune depressants or stimulants. Table 8.2 highlights the impact of herbal medicines that can affect immune responses.
