Women with known adrenal insufficiency that is appropriately treated can expect to have uneventful pregnancies (6). Hydrocortisone is the preferred steroid in pregnancy due to its short half-life and its susceptibility to degradation by the 11-bHSD-2 in the placenta, reducing fetal transfer of hydrocortisone (6).
