ABSTRACT

Advances in technology and business over the last decade have resulted in the creation of a rich and diverse geospatially aware Internet. Standards now exist that facilitate the publication and exchange of these data online, from many different data sources. The online mashing up of data from disparate datasets was only just being realised at the time the first edition of this book was being written. A lot has happened since then, but fundamental considerations such as custodianship, legal and security issues, funding and stability of technology platforms are still relevant today. Here, we will look at the dynamics of the Information Network space.
