ABSTRACT

Fourier transforms (FTs) constitute the central theme of this book. They are used in every technological application which starts from Chapter 4 onward. The purpose of the Fourier transform is to represent an image in terms of sine and cosine functions (sinusoids). Using these two basic functions, it is easy to perform processing operations, especially frequency domain filtering, which after inversion using inverse Fourier transform (IFT) is converted back to the spatial domain.
