ABSTRACT

The United States experiences more casualties and property loss due to res than any other industrialized country. According to the National Fire Protection Association, 4050 were killed in res in 1997. In this chapter, various types of re control systems are identied and described. Automatic sprinkler systems, re ghting foams, and chemical extinguishing agents are explained in order to assist safety managers with selecting an appropriate re control system.
