ABSTRACT
Metabolism, the principal mechanism for biotransformation and elimination of xenobiotics, occurs at multiple sites in the body. Although the liver is the main site for metabolism, other organs such as the kidneys, GI tract, skin, and nasal mucosa are also capable of contributing quantitatively to the overall metabolism of xenobiotics.
