ABSTRACT

In an atmospheric-pressure plasma, we have to consider the three-body collision and the effect of high-density excited species in addition to the collision process in a low-pressure plasma. Typical reactions are shown in Table 13.1 as an example in Ar. The radiation from polyatomic molecules excited to the rotational and vibrational levels is absorbed by the lattice or electron gases in a metallic wall. The excited electron gas transmits the energy to the metallic lattice through an inelastic electron-phonon scattering. The microscopic phonon excitation results in the heating of the metallic wall.
