ABSTRACT
The active part of a cutting tool appears as a cutting wedge. In a machining operation, the wedge of the cutting tool is properly oriented in relation to the surface of cut as well as in relation to the direction of the velocity vector of the resultant motion of the cutting wedge relative to the surface of cut.
