ABSTRACT
For machining a part surface, a machine tool, a cutting tool, a fixturing, and so forth are necessary. All these elements are together referred to as the technological system. For lubrication and for cooling purposes, liquids and gas substances are often used. The coolants and the lubricants create the technological environment. When a part surface machining process is designed properly, the capabilities of both the technological system and the technological environment are fully utilized. When the capabilities of the technological system and technological environment are fully utilized, the manufacturing processes of this kind are usually called the extremal manufacturing processes. Ultimately, the use of the extremal manufacturing processes results in the most economical machining of part surfaces.
