ABSTRACT

Franchisee, franchisor, and franchise represent three sides of a triangle. Because the relationship in franchising is symbiotic, a preselection screening for each of the constituents is important. A franchisee has to be carefully selected by a franchisor to ensure mutual cooperation for the success of the franchise. The franchisee has to determine whether or not the franchise system offered is suitable for investment and if the franchisor will meet his or her expectations. Both the franchisor and franchisee have to consider the suitability of the entire franchise system in which they are interested. All of these factors are considered in detail in this chapter.
