ABSTRACT

Almost all healthcare organizations will use direct hiring techniques to fill at least some of their open positions. Healthcare companies will employ a wide range of strategies with regard to this method. However, almost all of these organizations’ hiring protocols will contain some of the same basic processes. I listed many of them at the end of the previous chapter. Here is the list again:

• Onus on the Candidate • Individuals Apply for Specific Jobs • Human Resources (HR) Staff Members Perform the Initial Vetting

of Applications • One or More Hiring Managers Review the Finalists’ Submissions

• Background Checks • Interviews • Final Review and Decision • The Winner Is Informed and Offered a Contract • The Company Repeats the Process, if Necessary

In this chapter, I want to focus on hiring strategies and information technology (IT) techniques that healthcare organizations can utilize to help them improve their chances of hiring the right candidates for open positions. As a result, I will focus my discussion around methodologies and software instead of on delineating the individual steps in the direct hiring process. I will forego delineating some of the aforementioned steps, and I will only briefly touch on others.
