ABSTRACT

Wireless Interface. Wireless data transmission techniques incltlde infrared light, telemetry and inductive coupling. The basic idea in each case is to avoid wiring that would become entangled in a machine's moving members. The inductive coupling technique is the simplest but it is only useful for small airgaps. The telemetry and infrared data transmission approaches offer a much greater distance capability but at a greater complexity and cost, and these techniques may require batteries for operation.
