ABSTRACT
The practising statistician should consider joining one of the many national and international statistical societies. Potential benefits may include (a) access to a library, (b) the receipt of up-to-date journals, (c) a regular newsletter giving details of forthcoming lectures and conferences, and (d) the opportunity to meet other statisticians. Most countries have a national statistical society and the relevant address can probably be obtained via the statistics department of your local university or by writing to:
International Statistical Institute,
428 Prinses Beatrixlaan,
PO Box 950,
2270 AZ Voorburg,
Netherlands.
