ABSTRACT

Principles for the Analysis, Conservation and Structural Restoration of Architectural Heritage (ISCARSAH Principles) were ratified during the 14th general assembly in 2003. One of the principles refers to dismantling of heritage structure. The article 3.17 Dismantling and reassembly should only be undertaken as an optional measure required by the very nature of the materials and structure when conservation by other means impossible, or harmful. In 1994, JSA( Japanese Government Team for Safeguarding Angkor) was organized and began conservation work in Angkor. Since then JSA carried out restoration work of several structures that had been dismantled.
