ABSTRACT
The carbohydrates include substances that are constituents of the body’s cells and of compounds that are important foods, plus products that have both medicinal and industrial uses. They are divided into these categories:
1. Monosaccharides-examples are glucose and fructose 2. Disaccharides, sometimes called oligosaccarides-examples of which are
sucrose, lactose, and maltose 3. Polysaccharides-examples include starch, glycogen, and cellulose.
