ABSTRACT

Within the last decade interest in the structure of oligosaccharide moieties has increased along with a greater appreciation of their biological function (for review, see Ref. 1). In glycoproteins produced by biotechnology, glyco sylation may be of importance for antigenicity [2], clearance [3], and bio logical activity [4,5]. Because the glycosylation is influenced by the type of cell line [6] and the culture conditions [7], structural analysis of glycans and control of glycosylation is important for economical and pharmaceutical reasons.
