ABSTRACT

For one-dimensional shallow water flows in a rectangular channel, the continuity and momentum equations are given by Equations (9.1) and (9.2), respectively. In these equations, h is the water depth, u is the velocity, q = uh is the discharge per unit width, So is the bed slope, Sf is the friction slope, and g is the gravitational acceleration. The transport equation for pollutant is given by Equation (9.3), where T is the depth-averaged pollutant concentration, and SC is the depth-averaged pollutant source or sink. The transport equation can be coupled with the continuity equation and momentum equation through velocity and depth information.
