ABSTRACT
General formulation of the discontinuous Galerkin method In this chapter, the general procedure of the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method for hyperbolic conservation laws is presented. Before delving in the actual method, a brief review of some mathematical preliminaries relevant to the DG method is provided. Different methods for the treatment of the flux term are outlined. Time integration procedures relevant to the DG formulation are presented.
