ABSTRACT

This chapter will focus on educational interventions to improve the safety of medication use. First, we quantify the degree to which a lack of practical knowledge and skills around medication use contributes to error, using evidence drawn from the national and international literature. The chapter will then describe the role of educational interventions at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in facilitating the development of the knowledge, skills, and condence to ensure that health care professionals adopt safe and effective attitudes to medication use in clinical practice.
